WHAT CAN I DEDUCT ON MY STATE RETURN?

In general, unreimbursed expenses that are deductible on your federal form Schedule A, are also deductible on your state form Schedule UE.  The most common of these deductions include union dues, travel, business subscriptions and professional licenses.  In addition, uniforms used exclusively for work are deductible.  Please note that clothing that can be worn for other purposes is not deductible.  For example, a nurse can deduct her scrubs, a waitress can deduct her uniform, etc.  Please realize that a professional cannot deduct dress attire for that can be worn outside of the workplace.
